No holds barred

‘No holds barred’ is an American wrestling term from the world of sweaty, testosterone-laden men theatrically slamming each other onto the canvas. No holds are barred, everything is possible, everything is permitted. And this is what No holds barred stands for at Art Amsterdam.
79 artists - represented by galleries exhibiting at the art fair - have submitted proposals for No holds barred. Sculpture, painting, photography, installation, performance, film, video; anything is possible. The only criterion is that the work has to fit a 25 square metre space.
This year, the jury, consisting of collector Albert Groot, curator Christiane Rekade and critic Nicolai Strøm-Olsen, selected the following twelve winners:
  • Gluklya (Anya Stonelake / White Space Gallery), UK
  • Sanne Oorthuizen (Artipoli Art Gallery), The Netherlands
  • Olaf Mooij (BuroDijkstra Art Gallery), The Netherlands
  • Jiao Xingtao (Canvas International Art), The Netherlands
  • Bayrol Jimenez (Dukan & Hourdequin), France
  • Birgit Verwer (Livingstone Gallery), The Netherlands
