Art Amsterdam 2012 will be held at the Kromhouthal in the north of Amsterdam. The art fair, which is to become more exclusive and more compact, has selected this post-industrial venue in the heart of Amsterdam’s new cultural area. Amsterdam RAI organises the event which, this year, is set to take place from 20 - 23 September.
Art Amsterdam will select galleries more critically for the coming edition. The number of participants will be reduced by well over 30% from 135 to approximately 90. More than a third of these will be from abroad.
Art Amsterdam will be shifted from May to September, the start of the cultural season in the Netherlands. ‘Art in Amsterdam’, the side programme in the city that unites a large number of cultural breeding grounds, artists’ initiatives and events will also shift to the autumn.
